Balance is someone else’s chart. Rhythm is yours.
Virtual, one to one, with a Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. Traditional East Asian Medicine, functional testing, and behaviour science — used together to rebuild energy, resilience, and the capacity to keep going well for a long time. Start with a single session.
“She asked more questions than any doctor I have ever seen, and she took my concerns seriously.”
You are functioning beautifully, and that is exactly the problem. Nothing is falling apart, which is why nobody has asked. You have the calendar, the title, the meal prep, the ring on your finger telling you how you slept. And still something is off, and it has been off long enough that you have started calling it normal.
You wake between one and three in the morning, and your mind is already working.
You are sharp until three in the afternoon, and then you are somewhere else entirely.
You have tried the apps, the supplements, the protocols. Individually reasonable. Collectively exhausting.
You can describe your stress in precise, articulate detail — and you cannot feel where it lives.
Knowing about your body is not the same as feeling it, and there is a word for the second one: interoception. It is the direct sense of your own internal state — breath, pulse, the shift in your jaw before you have a word for it. It is a sense, like sight, and it sharpens with use and dulls without it.
High achievers tend to be unusually good at analysing their bodies and unusually poor at sensing them, because getting things done requires overriding the signal. Skip lunch. Push the break. Take the meeting anyway. Do that for fifteen years and the channel goes quiet.
This is not a soft skill. Interoceptive accuracy underwrites emotional regulation, decision clarity, and energy management — which is to say it underwrites how you lead. Your body’s signals are strategic data, not weakness.
It is also why a wearable cannot solve this. It can hand you a number. It cannot rebuild the sense.
And it is the part of longevity that the supplement aisle keeps missing. Living well for a long time is not a stack or a score — it is whether your system can still adapt, recover, and come back. That capacity is readable, it is trainable, and it is what this work is actually for.
Balance is a tightrope. Rhythm is a route. Balance asks you to hold every part of your life at equal weight, permanently, and calls it failure when you cannot. It is rigid, it is usually someone else’s definition, and it has left a great many capable women feeling perpetually behind.
Rhythm honours the season you are actually in. Your energy is not a flat line and was never meant to be — it moves, and so should the way you work, rest, eat, and decide.
Sjökort is the Swedish word for a nautical chart: the map sailors follow across water that has no path drawn on it. The route is real. It simply is not visible from the surface. That is the whole idea, and it is why this work is personal rather than prescriptive.
This is the four-step practice my clients use in meetings, before hard conversations, and at three in the morning. It takes one minute. Nothing is collected and nothing is sent. Do it now, at your desk, and you will know more about whether we should work together than any amount of copy could tell you.
Four steps, fifteen seconds each. Feet on the floor, phone down, and follow along.
Notice whether your mind rushed to explain what you felt. That reflex — the story arriving before the signal — is the exact thing we work on. Doing this once is insight. Doing it consistently, with someone reading the pattern back to you, is what actually changes.
Not ready to book? Find the micro-break that fits your pattern Two minutes, no call required.
One session, one to one, entirely virtual. No intake packet to complete first, no commitment to anything beyond the hour you have booked.
What has been going on, what you have already tried, and what you are actually worried about underneath the thing you booked for. Most people have not been asked this in a while, and it usually takes a few minutes before the real answer arrives.
Using Traditional East Asian Medicine diagnostics, your history, and any testing or wearable data you want to bring. Not a diagnosis — a pattern. The point is that you leave able to see the shape of the thing, which is usually the part nobody has given you.
Specific to your pattern, your schedule, and your season — and small enough to survive a bad week. Sometimes it is a practice, sometimes a point, sometimes permission to stop doing something. You leave with it written down.
That is a whole session, and it is a complete thing on its own. Plenty of people book one, take what they came for, and go and live their life. That is a good outcome, not a failed sale.
There is no package you have to buy to get access to me. Most people begin with a single session and decide from there — which is exactly how it should work.
A full hour, virtual, complete in itself. Come with one thing that has been bothering you and leave with a read on the pattern behind it and one specific thing to do. Book it, use it, and decide nothing else. This is where almost everyone starts, and there is no expectation beyond it.
Book again when you want to — monthly, seasonally, or when something shifts. No schedule to keep and no minimum. Some people come four times a year at the change of seasons; some come when a hard stretch arrives. Both are legitimate ways to use this.
Ten sessions across five months, with a full integrative health assessment, a written Rhythm Map of your own energy pattern, guided practices recorded for you, herbal and supplement support where clinically appropriate, and messaging between sessions. Five months is long enough to move through more than one season, which is the point — you find out what your energy does when the weather, the workload, and your life all change, and you leave able to navigate it. We can talk about it in a session; you never need to decide in advance.
Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. Licensed acupuncturist and integrative health coach. Founder of Sjökort Health & Wellness in Kansas City, practising since 2012 with hundreds of clients.
Most of my clinical career has been spent with people who were told their results were normal and knew something was wrong anyway — through oncology support, women’s health, fertility, autoimmunity, and burnout that had quietly been rebranded as ambition.
Traditional East Asian Medicine is a lifestyle medicine. There is far more to it than the needles, and the rest of it — the reading of patterns, the seasonal logic, the attention to rhythm — is what I built this work to give people who will never make it onto my table.
My work was never to fix you. You are not broken, and your symptoms are not malfunctions. They are information, and they are yours. My job is to help you read them, and then to hand you back the chart.
I vividly remember her asking me about my goals, and my response was something like, ‘I just want to feel like myself again.’ With each session, I experienced a reset and a profound sense of renewal.
